I tried to load the datadir provided by roasbeef with v26.0 and current master, also got to the point of the invalid block ("coinbase pays too much"), but no segfault for me.

sipa: i noticed that there have been a number of recent blocks where a large number of transactions had to be requested, any idea why? specifically this block was >1k requested 000000000000000000028cb399a0f90b57c4a8b4738ca14111b8994a06f0667a

one big "miss" for my node is 0000000000000000000050c1c51208603a78a8bfc5004a831c020fdb64ffac54 which appears to be full of prioritised txns
<phantomcircuit>
instagibbs: the only thing i can think of is someone has a 'pay the pool' thing which isn't broadcasting the transactions anywhere else
<sipa>
phantomcircuit: sadly, that is exactly what exists
<phantomcircuit>
sipa: i really don't understand why anybody would bother, surely that would end up being more expensive for everybody involved
<phantomcircuit>
the pool looses by increasing their orphan rate, the people paying are inherently over paying on average otherwise the pool wouldn't offer this
<achow101>
phantomcircuit: have you seen marathon's slipstream thing? they'll mine anything as long as you pay, including nonstandard stuff
<phantomcircuit>
achow101: i mean for weird nonstandard stuff i guess, but their fee rate is literally 4x normal feerate
<phantomcircuit>
so like who would use that and why
