[bitcoin] maflcko opened pull request #32697: test: Turn util/test_runner into functional test (master...2506-test-move) https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/32697
<gmaxwell>
fine example of nonsense pull requests created by dishonest parties just to manipulate the public.
<dodo>
why not wait until you see who signs before you judge?
<gmaxwell>
What the heck do you mean?
<gmaxwell>
This frauster provided a pgp signature with a fake and backdated "Satoshi" key, they're obviously fraud and just abusing the openness of the repository to create drama.
<sipa>
gmaxwell: heh, i didn't even realize it was an attempt at impersonating satoshi
<achow101>
well they're pretending to be satoshi, which is absolutely disingenuous
<achow101>
and generally grounds to be insta-banned
<achow101>
regardless of content
<Earnestly>
Yeah, but I have found a lot of people doing that in btc spaces; I tend to agree
<Earnestly>
I always figured it was one of those "We are Anonymous" types with the mask and everything
<Earnestly>
"I am Sparticus" for the older version

Earnestly: the person in question took the time to install an old version of GPG, backdate their computer's time, create an imposter satoshi key, and upload it to the key servers.
<Earnestly>
gmaxwell: Yeah I noticed the date was 2008 but was that once a satoshi gpg fingerprint?
<gmaxwell>
I don't think that person on X is saying it's them.
<Earnestly>
That is, was NihsotaS <satoshin@gmx.com> a satoshi identity at one point in the history of bitcoin? I'm not familiar with it
<gmaxwell>
satoshin@gmx.com was one of satoshi's email address, yes.
<Earnestly>
Ah then yeah, that goes beyond the usual "I am sparticus" types
<gmaxwell>
showing up claiming to be satoshi on github or irc has been an insta-ban since at least 2012. Even when people mean no harm by it, it just creates confusion for people who know even less.
<Earnestly>
Yeah, it's fair enough
