it's strange how github gets slower and less reliable in detecting merged PRs, it's like they try to punish projects that don't refuse to use their big green gamified merge button
<laanwj>
or maybe they're just overloaded

Was reading logs and saw this discussion about giving more permissions to fanquake: NACK
<prayank>
Reasons: Multiple PRs and issues where comments, closing, merging etc. could have been done better. Don't have issues with any other maintainers but don't prefer any more permissions for fanquake.

for the record i think fanquake is doing a great job with everything, he's doing a large part of the github maintenance work, has been active for a long time, and i haven't heard any specific complaints before

Mistake to ask openly? How else does feedback work for an open source project not sure. Anyway if people can't take criticism and live in denial I think we have bigger problems to solve.
<laanwj>
i've read some of the things you wrote and you seem to be nothing but negative about bitcoin development

I also think he's doing a fantastic job. You can't seriously expect everyone to agree with everything all of the time in a project like this.

+1 for giving fanquake permission to block, I thought he already had the ability which is why I’d ping him when someone is spamming

and if anyone has any complaint about a specific action or issue just bring it up here, i don't think we've ever been unwilling to discuss

i'd also rather not block anyone at all, and keep moderation to a minimum, but a high profile project like this attracts a lot of trolls and spammers etc, to keep normal development discussion possible, it's needed sometimes
<prayank>
Let me share the issued I had so that people don't assume things:
<prayank>
*issues
<prayank>
1. Commenting on behalf of others in one issues to reject some ideas instead of asking to create PR.
<prayank>
2. Merge a PR which had a NACK related to privacy without any comment or courtesy to ask if it affects anything else.
<prayank>
3. Remove "bug" label from issue because two people comment NACK
<prayank>
4. Close issues and PRs sometimes with no response or rude comments and in some cases people are legit trying to contribute.

+1 to give fanquake permissions, while on the procedural point I think it's great to do janitorial changes with an announced, open process, even if it's a bit rough and frustating because it takes more time
