practicalswift: I was reading your comment in #17691 and realized something funny. You suggest to move to https, and at the same time claim that better to avoid relying on third parties. But moving to https adds a third party: Certificate Authority. :P

elichai2 If you're still wondering, I'm pretty sure the XML related Qt build errors you were seeing on s390x might actually be an issue with Qts build system and newer versions of make. I can recreate the same/a similar issue locally.

fanquake: really? That's very interesting. I wasted so many hours trying to debug that because it only happened on the Travis s390x and I couldn't recreate

Maybe there's a new version of Qt we should upgrade to? If that will even help (it's somewhat non deterministic)

elichai2 I have been looking at 5.9.x -> 5.12.x. Might put a PR soon. Just getting some other qt-related changes out of the way first.
